It's hot again in California. Down south, the crazy heat is breaking records. Up here in the Bay, it's just 5 or 10 degrees warmer than normal. Noticeable but not extreme. Across the state, this could just be some warm October weather, which isn't unheard of.

There's more bad news when it comes to climate change - and this time it involves the world's lakes. A new study has found that global warming is resulting in rapidly increasing temperatures in lakes worldwide, an alarming find that means freshwater supplies and ecosystems are being threatened by climate change, according to an Economic Times report.

Congressman Lamar Smith (R-Texas), who chairs the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, has used his subpoena powers liberally to seek the e-mails of climate scientists in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Even before getting the evidence he claims he needs, however, Smith has accused NOAA of scientific dishonesty.
