Been a hot summer? Try Earth's hottest on record

The summer of 2015 is Earth's hottest on record. The meteorological summer of June-July-August saw its highest globally averaged temperature since records began in 1880, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported. Those record highs occurred on the surface of both land and sea.

Summary of GHCN Adjustment-Model Effects on Temperature Data

As the debate over whether or not this year will be the hottest year ever burns on, it is worth revisiting a large part of the data used to make this determination: GHCN v3.

The charts in this post use the dataset downloaded at approximately 2:00 PM on 9/23/2015 from the GHCN FTP Site.

The monthly GHCN V3 temperature record that is used by GISS undergoes an adjustment process after quality-control checks are done. The adjustments that are done are described at a high-level here.

Well, with your casual and largely uninformed rants dismissing actual climate science, you certainly give the impression you think you know more than the vast majority of scientists who have actually studied climate.

I did ask about your scientific credentials, but you ignored that. Could it be you know no more about science than the average person, maybe even less? I question whether you even know the difference between weather and climate.

Also, you have yet to show me where I claimed Al Gore is a climate scientist. This will prove difficult, since I never made such a claim.

Our host, Cstar, states in an announcement seen at the top of every session in this forum, that she has little interest in conspiracy theories and nutmania. Unfortunately, that seems all you're able to offer. Here's that statement:

Always a quick answer to explain away warmer controversy. Try this one... How is it the "errors" always favor the warmer point of view? Over the years there has been so much manipulation it is not funny.

A MATHEMATICAL discovery by Perth-based electrical engineer Dr David Evans may change everything about the climate debate, on the eve of the UN climate change conference in Paris next month.

A former climate modeller for the Government’s Australian Greenhouse Office, with six degrees in applied mathematics, Dr Evans has unpacked the architecture of the basic climate model which underpins all climate science.

He has found that, while the underlying physics of the model is correct, it had been applied incorrectly.
