Law enforcement wanted her to do serious jail time for breaking the law. It’s not the degree of threat they are concerned about but copycats.

Miss Lori was HUGE offender, she spent $500,000 more or less to directly bribe a place for her offspring, no real comparison except that both took advantage by way of wealth and position.

Seems steep to me for a 1st offense for someone who has led a crime free life in the past.  Should have fined her the cost of tuition, instead.  Also, why wasn't her dh arrested?

Historically, many kids in the US have gotten in on by the jobs their parents had, especially in politics and sports.  Ie, JFK, GWB, John McCain.

I wondered that too. People buy whole buildings and their kids get accepted.  William Macy didn’t leave a paper trail. If they had included him, both would have gotten off on lack of evidence.  They had hard evidence on her so they let him go.
