July is just about gone. It has been a wonderful month too. Bob
and I flew to London for a few days and then transferred to the pier
in Dover for a cruise to the Shetland Islands, Faroe Islands,
Iceland, and Norway. What a great trip. We met some really
interesting people on this cruise.
I'm home now and decided today to tackle digitizing the
documentation I have accumulated over the years. I started small
today and scanned the binder with all the Grassi documentation save
two records that I have. The file included birth, marriage, and death
certificates. Two documents were oversized and I will have to use my
Flip-pal to scan those documents and then stitch them again. Some of
the records were generated in Italy and are in written in Italian.
The oversized record may be military records but I will have to find
someone who is familiar with the records and possibly able to tell me
their purpose.
The genealogy exhibit is coming up and there are some things that
need to be finalized – the presentation and labels. One item that I
had before vacation I have misplaced. I think that is the reason why
scanning and filing my papers has become of paramount importance.
There is no place like home - children and grandchildren. I'm
amazed that people take back-to-back cruises and stay away from home
for long periods of time. I guess it is no different from
having a summer or winter home but I miss my family and friends.
