Tomorrow is Columbus Day, October 12th.  Our celebrations and monuments sure have taken a hit this year.  September and October weather flip-flopped.  It has been hot and humid here.  We did finally get a smidgen of rain last night, perhaps a half inch.  Last week Bob and I attended a Kiwanis Club of Chester Honor the Vietnam Veterans event.  It was well attended and we enjoyed it very much.  Three of Bob's friends and their wives were there too and I ran into several people I knew. It was held at the Chesterfield Fair Grounds.  On Saturday The Shepherd Center held a tea.  Bob's mother was the guest of honor at the tea because she was a long-time volunteer (since 2003) and she chaired the first tea that they held.  She thoroughly enjoyed herself.  Many of the ladies and gentlemen came by to see her and give her a hug.  She even won a door prize.   On Sunday the Sons of Italy participated in the annual Columbus Day wreath laying ceremony at Byrd Park in Richmond. I went with Lisa and Janice and met up with Ted and Mary  Anne.  There were quite a number of others there too.  It was a beautiful day. We returned to the Lodge for a wonderful Italian lunch!   Today was WiNGS at Church.  Our speaker's topic was about the opioid epidemic. Later I went to Mom's to continue packing items. Tomorrow is a DAR luncheon, Friday, Tyler will be here; and Saturday is the GRIVA Genealogical Conference.  It has been a non-stop month so far.
