Using Active Content

A Guide for Forum Hosts

What is Active Content?
Delphi's Active Content technology allows you to promote your Forum on any Web page. With our Active Content Wizard, you can generate HTML code that you can drop into any Web page to display dynamic content that entices people to visit your Forum. It works on DelphiPlus members' Web pages on people.delphiforums.com or any other kind of Web page.

Can I use Active Content with my forum?
Yes. All Delphi Forums can use Active Content. Premium Forums have access to some enhanced Active Content features.

Can I use Active Content in Forum messages and Start Pages?
No. Active Content is for use outside of Forums. Stay tuned for news on in-Forum Active Content!

Do I have to know HTML or other complicated code to use Active Content?
All you have to do is copy the code generated by our Active Content Wizard and drop it into the HTML code for your Web page. It helps to have some basic knowledge of HTML, but it's not necessary. If you need assistance, Delphi Staff are standing by to lend a hand!

What kinds of Active Content can Premium and Starter Forums use?
Starter Forums can use Active Content to display recent messages via JavaScript. Premium Forums have access to more types of content and more ways of displaying it:

  Starter Forums Premium Forums
JavaScript HTML RSS JavaScript HTML RSS
Chats       X X
Recent Discussions X   X X X X
Forum Stats     X X X X
Recent Visitors     X X X X

Promos       X X

What's JavaScript Active Content for?
The JavaScript feed is the simplest way to use Active Content. Simply use our Active Content Wizard below to customize your feed, then drop the code into any Web page.

What's HTML Active Content for?
If you want a freestanding Web page with information about your Forum, this format is what you need. For advanced users, the HTML fragment option may be useful. (HTML Active Content is only available with Premium Forums.)

What's RSS Active Content for?
With the RSS feed, you and your members can keep tabs on the Forum using a wide variety of newsreaders and online RSS tools.

How do I add my own colors and fonts to the Active Content display?
Using standard Cascading Style Sheet code, the display options for Active Content are almost limitless. Help with CSS code can be found in the Premium Forum Styles Center Forum (don't worry, Basic members can go, too).

OK, so how do I get started?
Scroll down to the type of Active Content you want to display and use our Active Content Wizard to generate the code or URL you'll need.

Please be patient while the rest of this page loads...
