X Factor Redux

It's happening again.  X Factor dumps contestants at the rate of 2 a week, running through them faster than they can prepare a good-bye "sing for your life" number.  Last night Rion was sent packing by Simon because the other contestant had fewer options.  What that seems to mean is that the guy, Carlito, doesn't have enough charisma or ability to make it in the biz, but Rion has a built in country market waiting to buy her music.

What it really means and Simon isn't saying, is that this year he has two strong groups, Alex and Sierra plus Restless Road, either of which could and should win.  The final showdown could be between the groups.  They are the best of those left standing and the most marketable. The last two winners have all but disappeared from public view.  Both Melanie Amaro and Tate Stevens had such poor sales, they were dropped by their labels and have left the building. We haven't seen them return this season, either.

Who are you rooting for to win?

Dog Blog

I'm taking the Kid/Bug challenge. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, you're not reading the right posts in the right places.  I was challenged to write a blog about a dog, so this is it.  Anyone who reads my old blogs realizes I talk mainly about entertainment and news stories, sometimes a combination of both, which makes this a departure from the norm.

If you own a dog, train it.  I saw a teenager yesterday with two dogs on Flexi-leads that she allowed not only onto someone's property, but within sight and smell of two very large, ferocious watchdogs that live in the home.  The watch dogs are actually sweeties, but to hear them bark, one wouldn't know it.  The little Alpha on the leash was a male Jack Russell, who was snarling and snapping at the big dogs through a gate.  The girl didn't appear to know what to do with her dogs or how to control them, so she stood there while both the male and the tiny Malti-mix lunged at the gate.  She finally started walking and the dogs, realizing the jig was up, pulled her on her way down the street.  How can anyone own and walk a dog and not use a modicum of common sense?  She's fortunate the big dogs didn't break free from the yard.  I've met their owner and she said they dogs are great with people, but she's not so sure about how they would react face-to-face with a little yappy, snappy dog.  Had the big dogs been loose, the little dogs may have been lunch.

If you own a dog, don't just train it, use common sense and be responsible dog owners when you walk your dogs in a public place.

Of course it's a blog!

Note, the following is a completely unpaid Public Service Announcement for Delphi Forums Blogs.  Please, serve your online community and read it!!

The ongoing, current blog topic on Delphi is all about....blogs!  Who uses them, who doesn't, who reads them, who doesn't.  Since my blogs are sometimes controversial and I don't do controversies in my own forums, I stopped promoting mine in my links.  Now, I've decided for the sake of blogs to give up the controversies, unless they are blog or entertainment-related, and go back to posting a link.

So, if you're reading this now, you may be one of those who followed my link or one who regularly reads all the new updates on Delphi Blogs. Please take a minute and post a comment, not only in my blog but in the other active blogs here, so we can get an idea of who is reading and how you found us.  All the Delphi bloggers would appreciate it.

About the Author
ShowtalkMinnie Shorter never ran a major corporation, never performed brain surgery, never jumped motorcycles for a living, and never tried to join the astronaut program, but she has had almost every other job you can think of during her life.

Minnie opened her first lemonade stand on a busy Los Angeles street corner when she was seven. She and her best friend Angelina and her brother Wayne were an instant success in drought-ridden LA, and were the darlings of tourists strolling up and down the boulevards, craning to see celebrities. There was something precociously charming about Minnie, her brother, and her little dark-haired friend. Minnie soon added celebrity maps and jewelry rental to the fare offered at the stands, which by the time she was 8, she had franchised all across the greater Los Angeles area. Those franchise fees continue to pay her a dividend to this very day.

Other jobs included dog groomer, Pediatric Nurse, Screenwriter, waitress, Executive Producer (for one odd season in the early 90's on CBS,) costumer, circus acrobat, auto body painter, crop duster, border guard, best boy, caterer, and optometrist. On her 30th birthday, she decided it was time to get serious about life, and settle down. She married her fiancé of 12 years, Manfred, and adopted his four siblings from Rio de Janeiro to raise as her own.

Known as Showtalk, most assume that this nickname was given to her because of her various positions within the movie community, but in actuality, was a nickname given to her when she was 16, by a production assistant's assistant's assistant, when she would hold up cue cards for (has-been) celebrity product demonstrators at Home Shows. Show (product) Talk (about product) were the front and back sides of the cards....
