My newest passion...

I wasn't sure I would like camping when we bought our camper last year.  But I LOVE it!  Of course, we have all the amenities.  TV, Microwave, stove, oven, refrigerator, full bath, queen size bed, dinette and outdoor kitchen (as well as outdoor shower if we camp near a lake and don't want to track sand in the trailer.)

This picture is from last year, but we are going again in August to the same campground.  It has full hookups (water, electric, sewer - so we don't have to go to the dumping station, WiFi, Cable)  Last year they even had karaoke.  I'm hoping they have it again this year.

Some will say "That ain't camping!"  Ha!  It's a travel trailer, and it's at a campground.  So as far as I am concerned, it IS camping!

I've been alive over 50 years so far.  Life's been very good to me. What more can I ask?

I grew up in a small town in Michigan and never saw railroad crossing gates until I was 14 years old.  Our house was next to a big field where we would hunt berries in the summer and pull each other on sleds in the winter.  I went to a small-town high school and graduated barely into the top 1/3 of my class although I had the smarts to have been class valedictorian.  Silly me, I thought school was my social playground!

After high school I worked various and sundry jobs, never a career until I got my first computer.  I fell in love and found my career path.  I worked my way through the ranks starting as a data entry clerk until eventually I ran the I.T. Department of a fairly large trade association in Chicago (80 employees, 35,000 members) and had the best staff anyone could want. I returned to school and got my associate's degree in computer science (accidentally - an advisor told me I qualified for four certificates - Java, C++, Visual Basic and Database Management - and if I took a speech class I'd have all I needed for an associate's degree.  So I took speech and graduated with a 3.92 gpa in June 2004)

Meanwhile, the company I worked for got a new CEO who brought in his own people, then hired a consultant to tell him that there were too many duplicate positions so recommended that either I or the other I.T. manager should be let go.  Well, since the other I.T. manager was the guy he brought in, I was let go.

I have since returned to school to get my bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  I finished in December, 2006, graduating with honors, and immediately found a position in a Chicago philanthropic organization as their Director of Technology.

I joined Delphi in 1994 originally after spending a couple of years on services like GEnie, NVN (both out of business) and CompuServe before coming to Delphi.  Delphi turned out to be the service that I liked best, so I stuck around - mostly playing in a games forum and hanging out in chat.

In August 1998 I went looking around on Delphi for a forum that dealt with health and fitness without being tied to some product, and couldn't find any (plenty of weight watchers, jenny craig, etc. but nothing that was totally unrelated to any product) so I opened my own forum and called it
Healthy Living.

I learned HTML and became one of the first certified webmasters in 1997.  I wanted to teach anyone who wanted to learn HTML so I opened up charhtml in 1999.  Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I had to close it in 2007.

I spend most of my off time playing World of Warcraft.  My favorite weekend activity is going to karaoke.  I'm currently living in Michigan with my new husband and old high school sweetheart, Roger.
