Immigration reform... What a crock of shit! The politicians have no respect for the rule of law and this bill exemplifies this fact. Any "reform" needs to respect the laws as they exist. That means, no path to citizenship for those who broke the law to get to America and no way to stay here legally.
Let them go home and apply through the proper channels for admitance here. If they do that, I say let the past be the past - no penalties for previously breaking immigration law. Reform the laws to increase security for the country, but let more people in. Allow work permits with harsh punishments for those who abuse the permit or overstay the duration. Enact harsh penalties for anyone who employs illegals, but give them the tools to check employee status without cost.
By securing our borders yet making it easier to come to American legally, and coupling that with harsh penalties for those who break the law, we can enjoy the best of everything and extend a welcome to those who are and will be constructive, law-abiding members of this country,
