Monday was a holiday here in Canada and it was a beautiful one,
with sunny skies and summery temperatures.
I left my camera at home to enjoy the day with my family.
Of course I regretted it. lol

We visited the Quay/Riverside Market in nearby New Westminster.
The images below are from the most recent addition. 

The park is built along the riverside with half being on land and half over the water
supported by 3,600 pilings similar to the old ones in this photo.

There are loads of places to sit and take in the sites, or just soak up some sun.

The city has chosen a number of ways to honour those who influenced and shaped it's history, including the Memory Band embedded in the board walk, featuring their names.

And with several photo walls...

It incorporates two play parks for the kids,
this one sits on an upper level that includes many natural elements for tykes to explore.

Three sections of sand for beach influenced fun,
including volleyball, hammocks and...

picnicking!

As well as an amazing amount of open areas for being active or just hanging out with friends.
