As I sit here this morning in the peaceful quiet of my abode, I have thought many thoughts, most of which were negative and then I remembered some sage advice; “Be thankful for the little things.” These are some of the small things that I had to remind myself of this morning.

I am not cold, and I am not hungry and today I will donate to the local food bank because I have remembered to be thankful for these two things.

I am not homeless and I am not helpless.

I am healthy and should be more thankful for it because there were years where I did not put my health first. My aches and pains are few and are nothing compared to the illnesses of some.

I have strong willed, healthy, stubborn children who may not do all that I ask, but are there for me when I need them most.

I have a comfortable bed to sleep in.

I have clothes to wear.

I can take a shower or a bath any time day or night and know the comforts of cleanliness.

I have coffee.

I am lucky enough to still have my mother on this earth and our relationship is a good one.

I am blessed with two sisters and although we may not always see eye to eye, I know that they would step up for me should I need them to.

I have my fur-babies and they bring me joy and laughter.

I have an adorable niece who reminds me to see the world through her eyes and I am always astonished by her view when I take the time to know it.

Amid all the day to day frustration, there is a voice out there that brings me calm.

I live in a country where freedom is taken seriously, but not so seriously as to impede free will.

I am liked by many and loved by the few that I allow to be close enough to me and the love from those few can get me through any storm.

All in all I'd say I'm pretty damned lucky to be me.
