A new rail would enable Humboldt's Harbor to become a transportation hub, linking the cities in the interior of the United States to the cities along the west coast of the Americas, and the Countries of the western pacific...
The economic benefit to the entire region would be enormous. Not only the north coast, but all of northern California and southern Oregon would be positively affected by the building of this new transportation conduit....
Another reason a new railroad would be beneficial, is it would take some of the pressure off the increasing transportation load on the freeways and ports in the rest of the State. Studies have shown that within just a few years California's ports and freeways will be at capacity......
There are only four strategic ports on the west coast of the United States compared to over thirty on the east coast. Having another link to the interior would be essential in this day and age, when one ship scuttled beneath the Golden Gate bridge could leave the entire west coast vulnerable. .....
These are just a few reasons, there are many more.
