Any of you who have been regular or even semi regular readers of my blog know that I have been on the road to a better, healthier me.  In the last 5 or so years I have lost over 100lbs, taken my life into my own hands, taken the bull by the horns and decided that for me 40 is going to be the new 20 because when I was 20 I was too busy nursing babies to truly appreciate youth.

And… those of you who have been readers of this blog also know that I have been on a quest for reconstructive plastic surgery and that my first consult with a plastic surgeon was met with disaster that could have dented my self esteem had I allowed it. The entry is entitled WHAT AN ASSHOLE!

Well;  I am happy to report that I had a second consult with a new plastic surgeon yesterday morning and all systems are “GO” for the start of the reconstructive process.

By this time next year I will be sporting new boobies and most likely a snazzy new tummy to go with them.

The second plastic surgeon was professional, compassionate, informative, and an all around nice guy. He guaranteed me a nice new set of perky boobies on the provincial health insurance plan and sees no reason that they shouldn’t also cover the tummy, but also warned me that the tummy could take some fight because with provincial insurance it is commonplace for them to issue an immediate denial and make the patient fight for coverage. I’m okay with that. He’s given me all the incentive I need to win this fight.

He gave me oodles of relief, complimented me on the fantastic tone of my musculature, and complimented the volume of my breast tissue; this is going to make the reduction easier for him.

While standing he was optimistic about the belly, but told me that I would most likely need a second incision on the bottom portion to ensure a good tight result and when he had me lie down and he manipulated the skin he actually got excited about the result he anticipates for me. When he got excited I got excited and relieved and proud and so many other things.

Despite having 4 babies in 5 years I have minimal separation of the diastasis recti muscles (the upper abs) and my over all good health is a major plus in the healing factor.

I am THRILLED… I am beyond thrilled… I am excited and anticipatory and elated and anxious and I can’t wait to get this party started.

Of course I will from now until then be working on a minimalist wardrobe…no sense buying clothes that aren’t going to fit!
