Checking Out New Territory or perhaps it was old territory.  Cathy had two hitchhikers today en route to Brunswick Co., VA to do genealogy research. Joan and I tagged along with her and we all had a good time.   The library there houses the Brunswick Room which is their special collections.  Lots of books, old and new, and microfilm.  I had hoped to find some clue on a ancestor or two and I did!  I checked out some records for a genealogy cousin - her ancestors were Frederick and Elizabeth Pheonix also spelled Phenix.  I even checked Fenix.  Genealogists are always creative with spelling because the clerks back in the day were creative also.  For myself, I checked out the name Dickson/Dixon and did find Thomas in the records, as early as 1724.

The trip took about an hour this morning.  We then went to lunch and then returned to the library.  We arrived home around  4:00.  The adventure was worth every minute we put into it. Visiting the places where our ancestors lived makes you appreciate them even more.
