Entry 14

The Braves finished 2008 at 72-90, 4th place, 20 games behind the 1st place Phillies. A poor road record, 29-52, and injuries were the main reasons why. Plus Skip Caray died during the season while Pete Van Wieren retired after it. Entry 13

After six games, May 27-June 1, the Braves:

*) Were 1-2 at the Brewers (including their thirteenth and fourteenth one-run losses)
*) Were 0-3 at the Reds (including their fifteenth and sixteenth one-run losses)

1-5--making their season record 29-28--drops them into a tie for third place with the Mets. They're three games away from the Marlins (who in turn are a half game behind the Phillies).

The surprise is a 22-7 record at Turner Field (which offsets a 7-21 road record). Its link can be found here:

Entry 12

Between May 6 and today (May 27), three weeks, the Braves:

*) Swept the Padres 3-0 (including their first one-run win)
*) Were 1-3 at the Pirates (including their tenth one-run loss)
*) Were 1-2 at the Phillies (including their eleventh one-run loss)
*) Were 2-1 over the Athletics (including their second one-run win and twelfth one-run loss)
*) Swept the Mets 4-0
*) Were 2-2 with the Diamondbacks

13-8--not the best record--but enough to claim second place with the Phillies (with the Mets claiming fourth place). Plus the Marlins aren't running away from their NL East rivals (they have a 2 1/2 game lead over the Braves and Phillies).

Next year there will be two Braves teams in the Atlanta area. The Triple A Richmond Braves are moving to Gwinnett County. Links:
