Jan-19 Well, we woke up to no heat this morning. Our unit was running, but it wasn't heating like it should. We have a call in now to the repair man. Later now. The repairman has come and said that the blower motor went out. He's gone now to get another one to install. It's suppose to be covered under the warranty.
I found one of my long lost nieces on Facebook yesterday. I requested us to be friends, and she responded. I'm glad about that. She and our daughter is about the same age. I hope we can regain our friendship we once had years ago.
I have been thinking about my Coffee Shop Gossip forum lately, and the mods who help out with it. I know I have the best mods of any forum on Delphi. I also know I have the best forum of any on Delphi. We don't have the bickering back and forth like many of the forums have. If it starts, it's nipped in the bud before it gets started, and I'm thankful for that. I also know we have the best promo writer on Delphi. I'm thankful for that too.
Jan-7 We had a very good New Years gathering here at our house. There were Margaret, our daughter, her husband, both granddaughters and me. My sister and her husband came over on Thursday for the day. I thought they would stay over New Years, but they had to get back home.
We're going to Wall Mart today to get some pictures made. I'm taking my thumb drive so we can copy some family pictures for an old cousin of mine. She wants a current picture of us, if possible. I have emailed the other cousins, but this one doesn't have a computer.
(Later the next morning)
Well, we got to Wall Mart and got the pictures. I thought there were 3-4 pictures we were wanting to get, but my wife and daughter ended up getting 38 pictures. I wish I would have been able to go by myself. Sometime after lunch, we are needing to go to the mall. Margaret wants to get a pedicure, and we need to get a couple of tops for one of her sisters. It's been raining this morning, so I hope it stops by the time we want to get out. Jan-1 Today, being New Years Day, we gathered around lunch time and had some nick-nacks. We had:
cranberry meat balls little smokies in bbq sauce honey baked turkey breast, and sliced ham several kinds of crackers cheese tray along with a cheese ball pickle, olive, carrot and celery stick tray green punch with ginger ale and lime sherbet chips and dip croissants
I believe that is all we had. Our daughter, her husband and both granddaughters came over to eat. It was good to have them here. They stayed till time to go to church.
I don't usually have any New Years resolutions, but this year my aim is to keep on losing weight. I would ike to lose at least another 30 pounds. That would make it a total of around 60 pounds in all. The holiday season sure has messed up my weight loss, and also my fluid loss. Tomorrow, we are getting back on my diabetic/renal diet in a vigorous way. We are going to have to do this. I hope my health doesn't get any worse this next year. I just don't like to be in the hospital at any time.
Dec-27 Well, Christmas is over with, and we had a very good day. We had 8 people here to eat. We had ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, strawberry salad, roles and iced tea.
Everyone had a good time even the little kids.
Margaret has a nephew who is in the army, and is suppose to be in today. We are planning on having him and his family over for a get together on Saturday, New Years eve. We're just going to have some cranberry meat balls, little cocktail smokies, mini crab cakes, chip and dip, a cheese and cracker tray, punch and some homemade fruit cake.
Dec-15 We got ready this morning to do some errands. Our first stop was at the Cracker Barrel for breakfast. I had two pancakes, two strips of bacon well done and a cup of coffee. We then left there and went to Wall mart and bought the last of the Christmas presents. We also got some more ornaments and some filler for the tree.
Last night we addressed our Christmas cards getting them ready for the mail. We have cut back on the amount of cards we're sending out this year. From what I've heard people say, they've cut back this year also. I think tonight we''re going to wrap some presents. That will make the tree not look so bare. Dec-13 This past Saturday, Margaret's siblings and their families had their
annual Christmas luncheon. For the past few years, we've been going
back to our hometown, and we have a room reserved at a local
restaurant. There was about 50 or 60 people there. We had loads of
fun, and the food was excellent.
Here is a picture of us at the lunch.
Left to right are my wife, Margaret; daughter, Jennifer; me, our
granddaughters, Leia and Jacquelyn.
Dec-4 We
have done just about all our Christmas shopping this year. We still
have to get some stocking suffers for the grand kids. Marg is vacuuming
the living room and getting it ready to bring the Christmas tree in.
We have decided to use the gold ornaments again this year. This is
what the tree looked like last time we used the gold theme.
We have got a strand of lighted garland on the top of the mantle this year. That's something new. We have decorated the front porch and have new welcome signs at the back door and the patio door. We have yet to put the candles in all the windows. They are solar and the bulbs flicker looking like a real candle.
Nov-27 Well, we had a great Thanksgiving. Margaret and Jen did the cooking, and the rest of us helped with the eating. Jen fixed the turkey, cranberry relish, sweet potato casserole, spoon rolls, pumpkin pies and coconut cake. Marg fixed the dressing, gravy, green beans, corn, mashed potatoes, and iced tea. There were seven of us here to eat. Everything was so good.
Us and Jen went out Black Friday afternoon. We went to Hobby Lobby and got a few things, then to the JoAnn Shop to get some material for Jen to make some body pillows for Tony's grandsons. We got some Christmas decorations for the house and for the yard also. We are to have rain and/or snow showers all this week.
I suppose the next week, we'll start decorating for the Christmas season. We have a new tree this year. It's a tall skinny one. It will be better and not take up so much room in the living room. I'll post a picture of it when we get it decorated. We are practically finished with our Christmas shopping. We have one or two gifts yet to buy. We have the granddaughters a few little gifts, so we'll probably get them some gift cards. The usually love those.
Nov-19 Today we went to a concert to hear our youngest daughter sing. She was in the Freshman choir for East Tennessee. They were real good. I don't know how many schools were represented, but they all had to be in East Tennessee. I think there were 160 kids in the choir.
On December 10th Margaret's siblings and their families are going to gather for their Christmas lunch. We're going back up to my hometown, and eat at one of the local restaurants. We've been doing this for the past 3-4 years. They set aside the back room so we can all eat together. We all just order from the menu and some of the siblings will bring deserts for us to share. We always have a good time. We'll meet for around four hours, then we'll go back home. Margaret has bought some Christmas baskets that she's going to use to fix some goodies in for her siblings. She's going to make some mini banana nut bread, some mini coconut bread, and make some cookies and probably put a package of hard candy in the baskets.
We finally finished our flower beds and mulch areas. We had another patio poured that doubled the size of what we had origionally. We also had a side walk and another park pad poured. This really made the yard look real good. We had all the bushes taken out and we planted all new shrubs. I have some pictures to post here so you can see what our courtyard looks like now.

Nov-10 I have been telling you about my in-laws. Many times we have been to visit when Wilma was canning. She would can green beans. John and I would break and string them, and Margaret would help her mother to do the canning. We would also help them to put apples in the freezer. I swear, I've never seen two people who could peel an apple and not get any of the fruit in the peel. Wilma would then make apple jelly from the peelings and cores. It sure was good jelly too. The best jelly was made from sheep nose apples. It was the best. I don't see any sheep nose apples any more. She would also can corn. That was good also with hot biscuits with butter on them.
Wilma was a wonderful cook. She would cook apple pies to take to the fair. I have seen her stack six two crust apple pies on top of each other and cut them all at once. I doubt there are many who can do that. She would have a cooked meal for lunch and supper. Sometimes John would just eat a plate of green beans and sliced bread. He had bread at every meal and meat at most. I remember one time she had made a chocolate cake she had made for lunch. Our daughter asked her if it was Duncan Hines. She got a kick out of that. I doubt she ever had a box of cake mix in the house.
